(Pronounced “Deep”- Deep Inferior Epigastric Perforators, which are blood vessels)
This is a breast reconstructive surgery that represents one of the most advanced forms of breast reconstruction now available. I am currently the only Board Certified Plastic Surgeon in the state of Mississippi performing this surgery.
The surgery uses the patient’s own abdominal skin and fat to reconstruct a natural soft breast after mastectomy. This surgery also allows the patient to maintain the integrity of the abdomen by keeping the abdominal muscles intact. Only the abdominal skin and fat are removed, similar to a tummy tuck. The excess skin and fat are used to reconstruct the breast. This surgery is also an option for women who have undergone radiation during their breast cancer treatment.
I am pleased to be able to bring this surgery to the state of Mississippi and offer all women affected with breast cancer several surgical options, including this advanced procedure.
