Body Lift in Biloxi, MS
Michael Diaz, M.D., F.A.C.S., a board-certified plastic surgeon in Biloxi, MS, performs body lift surgery on people living in and around Southern Mississippi, Louisiana and Alabama who have lost a substantial amount of weight and want to remove excess sagging skin to showcase their new figure.
What Is a Body Lift?
It is common to have lots of excess, sagging skin following a significant weight loss or weight reduction surgery. The skin loses elasticity stretching to points where it cannot bounce back and conform to the new body size. This results in sagging skin around different areas of the body, including the upper arms, stomach and abdominal area, sides and back, buttocks and thighs, and even the breast or chest area.
A body lift removes the excess skin to enhance the shape and tone of the underlying body tissue supporting fat and skin. This procedure also provides patients with a hugely improved self-image.
There are two types of body lifts
Upper body lift
An upper body lift usually involves any one combination of the following: upper arm lift, a breast lift, or surgery to remove fat rolls along the back. Excess skin in the upper area of the body can make someone look much larger than they actually are following the loss of a large amount of weight. Once complete, the upper body looks toned and more contoured and enhances a more sculpted profile.
Lower body lift
A lower body lift treats the areas including the buttocks, thighs, hips, and abdomen. These areas are where many want their efforts to show. With a lower body lift, the buttocks are tightened and sculpted, skin is pulled up and tightened around the thighs to reveal more shapely, fit legs, and the abs are flattened and contoured to give a healthy appearance.
Many patients choose to undergo one of the types of body lifts and possibly follow up with the other after the first procedures completely heal. Others choose one or the other to complement their success.

After Your Body Lift Surgery
All post-surgery activities are very restricted for the first few weeks to allow time to heal. This includes lifting anything over five pounds as well as any exercise other than walking.
