Excision: When excision techniques are used, glandular breast tissue or excess skin must be removed to correct gynecomastia. This is also used to reduce the size of the areola or to reposition the nipple to look more masculine.

Once the procedure is complete, the chest area is bandaged and wrapped. A compression vest is placed on you to help protect and support the chest area.

You must wear the compression wrap for two to four weeks following the procedure. During the first 24 hours following the surgery, you must have someone help you, as you will still have the remnants of the anesthesia in your system and require rest. If necessary, you may require pain medication for any discomfort during the first few days. You may return to work about a week after your surgery and once you have the approval of your surgeon during a follow-up appointment; however, you may not participate in heavy lifting or strenuous activities for about four weeks.
